PACS running in less than 5 minutes. Version 3

1 Initial Requirements

1.1 Time

In less than five minutes you can have the CDMEDICPACSWEB up and running, of course without having in account the downloading time.

1.2 Hardware

PC Intel-compatible CPU (i486 or later) at least 96 MB of RAM (128 MB or more RAM is recommended) with bootable CD-ROM drive, or a boot floppy and standard CD-ROM (IDE/ATAPI or SCSI), standard SVGA-compatible graphics card and serial or PS/2 standard mouse or IMPS/2-compatible USB-mouse.

1.3 Software

Download from http://cdmedicpacsweb.sourceforge.net the cdmedic-3.iso (md5sums 00bca399e5e02a72b96a2848f4ffbd76) image and burn a  CD ROM with your favorite program.

1.4 Local net data

Ask  your net administrator for a free local net IP  direction , net mask and gateway if available, and IP directions , AEs  and ports of each modality to be connected to the CDMEDICPACSWEB.

2 OS GNU-LINUX Debian Knoppix "live CD"

2.1 Configure PC BIOS to boot from CD ROM

2.2 Reboot PC with the  CDMEDIC CD ROM

2.3 Boot: Enter

Wait a couple of minutes to get the KDE3 Window system running and then you can see the dicom samples included clicking once in the PAC's icon.
There are also icons to the AFNI program with a sample of functional MRI, to CTSIM CT Simulator and to GIMP fantastic image processing program and to their respective documentation.

3 Configuration

Click once on CONF icon and go on with the local net data and the first DICOM node to connect.

3.1 Configure the rest of the nodes

Click again in the CONF icon and configure the nodes with the web form.

3.2 Test the connections

From CONF select "Status"
If you get 0% loss y Successful operation on each node CDMEDICPACSWEB is ready to receive studies from the modalities.

3.3 Send studies from the modalities connected

3.4 View the received studies

Clicking on the PACS's icon you can see the images received from different modalities .

4 Solving doubts and problems

X Window system not running only text mode. Solution:
Boot: knoppix xserver=fbdev Enter

When starting X Window screen goes black. Solution:
Boot: knoppix xvrefresh=60 Enter

What to do if it is no possible to boot from the CDROM. Solution:
Make a bootable floppy with the image boot.imgfrom the directory KNOPPIX of the CDROM, in linux with the command dd if=/cdrom/KNOPPIX of=/dev/fd0 and in windows with the program rawrite included in that directory
